Well I mostly play MMOs on my computer so I would suggest.
World of Warcraft if you are new to the MMO genre
Vanguard If you have a pc that can handle it
Matrix Online if you want to try something different
EvE If you want complexity (awesome game btw just to slow for my tastes)

I would suggest Age of Conan if they fix it before launch (in beta and funcom is the worst game company E V E R)
Starwars Galaxies use to be an AWESOME game until they ruined it and made it another wow clone.

City of Heros sucks. All you do is smack a person and get a point hoo fricken ray

That's RPG... but Titan Quest is far more better in this category... Although it is a direct clone of Diablo series... but it's done a lot better than the Blizzard games.... Including graphics, story, size of the world, quantity of the items o_O, variety of skill sets, etc... it is overall a better game and definitely not as boring as Diablo II X)

formerly known as space cowboys online, now called Air Rivals (european/english version of the korean: Ace Online)

www.air-rivals.net

its sort of like an MMORPG, as well as a flight simulation
whether you like it or not, i wont know, but i can tell you that you shouldnt think its not your type of game straight away

my friend said those games arent his sort of thing, but when i gave him a test run on my account, he got hooked hehe =p
give it a try if you like MMORPGs, or PvP based games
the game is heavily PvP based if you want to have fun, otherwise theres also the option to grind mindless-ly.... but i would choose PvP

edit: also, imo, the dueling in the game is a lot more skill/experience based than same lineage II or WoW
of course even if youre highly skilled, youd still lose to someone say 50 levels higher than you with the best equipment for thier level

A little update for all the gaming nerds:

In the recent monts i have stumbled across several MUST PLAY (PC and multi platform) games...

Racedriver GRID... one of the best racing games i have played in years... it definitely hits the sweetspot between simulator and casual/arcade racing... with stunning graphics and awesome damage models, this game is a must have for all Driving game fans (Available also on 360)

Mass Effect... a very interesting mix of action, 3rd person shooter and futuristic RPG... a very deep and interesting storyline, huge world and brilliant characters... this is one of the rare RPG games that really makes you feel for your character (and your temmates)... it's just hours and hours of exploring and having fun... (also available on consoles)

The Witcher... a complicated and very mature fantasy RPG... based on novels by polish author Andrzej Sapkowski it features very unique setting of medieval world filled with cool monsters, rapists, pedophiles, whores, male witches (The witchers - the good guys)... interesting dialogues and a quite unusual fighting system that needs some time to get used to... but it has been holding me in it's grip for the past few days Smile

Sins of a solar empire is one of the best RTS's of the last few years, period. It's IMMENSELY HUGE!!! And immensely lot of fun to play online... (Yeah, i can be quite often seen on the Ironclad servers there hehe).... In the game you are waging wars with enormous spaceship fleets, fighting over not only planets, but sometimes even multiple solar systems with tens and tens of planets, wormholes, asteroids etc in it... you have got to see this one!!!

+ I have been replaying Homeworld2 in the last few days... this is one of the games you can never grow sick of... it's just soooo daaaamn good ^_^
